Planning my first face chart design
The character I have chosen is from a poor background but is power
hungry and worked her way up by marrying important rich men.
The story behind my character is that she always had the plan in her
head to work her way up to become the richest woman In England but she knew
that she wouldn’t ever be seen better than the Queen. She decided to get as
close as she could to the queen so she could always be one step ahead of her.
She also wanted to be better than the queen.
In makeup design I want to reflect that she has come from a poor
background but has worked her way up through marrying loads of different
powerful and rich men. I am going to show this by using symbolism of colours
and materials.
I first started my research by looking into different fabrics and what
they show, I found that lace was a material, which was worn by many upper class
women. I would like to interpret this into my design, I’m going to do this by
using lace or a doily and then print though it to show the lace effect on the
hairline and down the neck. I’m also going to do the colour of this in white
because this represents virginity, which is why the queen had extremely pale
makeup. She always wanted to be better than the queen so I’m going to have the
white faded towards the middle of the face representing how she was nearly as
powerful as the queen but she will never be as powerful. Another reason for me
choosing white for this design is that wearing white clothing showed that you
had money because you could get your clothes properly washed because white
would get so dirty so wearing white showed people that you were very well off.
Around the eyes I have decided to do different shades of orange because orange was
seen to be the colour that poor people wore. This means that when you look
into her eyes you can see that her true background is from a poor background.
Also on the outside of the main orange colour covering the eye lids is going to
be gold which is showing that she tries to hide that she was ever poor.
(I didnt have any lace to show the effect but i will uploading a practice of this soon on my own face)
