Final Design
After experimenting with two
other designs using face charts and practicing them over and over to get the
perfect outcome I have come up with the perfect combination to what I want my
design to look like. I also practised this design on my self so that I knew it
would work how I wanted it too and that it creates the look and mood I’m trying
to achieve.
I started looking back at my
experimentation of other designs and decided that the main part of my design
that I wanted to stand out the most was the lace print around the face. I
experimented using white on skin colour and printing black on white base, both
of these didn’t give me my desired outcome because the white blended in too
much but the black took away from the delicate elegant look that lace gives
off. I decided that I liked the white print on the face more that the black but
I just needed a way to make it stand out more because the lace print didn’t
stand out as much as I would have wanted it too.
I have planned and
experimented using a red blush under the white lace print and this works
extremely well because it’s enough to make it stand out without making it look
over the top. Also by using the blush to make the lace print stand out you can
blend it out so you don’t have any harsh lines on the forehead.
I have still stuck with my
original idea by using orange on the eyes but just added other shades onto the
base because it was a very matte look and the point of the orange was to really
make the eyes stand out. To do this I have added a gold and copper colour to
the base on the eyelid from the Illamasqua range, then on top of that worked in
the Charles Fox orange and yellows.
As a high light I used the
supra colour in white very gently dapping it on the tops of the cheek bones to
give off a glowing look. It also gives off the effect of pale skin in this
image without painting the whole face white because this is a contemporary version
of the Elizabethans.
I then used the blusher,
which has been used on the forehead under the cheekbones to contour, which
brings the look together because it brings the colour around the face instead
of leaving the bottom part bare. I think it also replicates the Elizabethan
fashion where they used to use a very red blush on their cheek bones but I have
used it in a more contemporary way by using it under the cheek bones to
contour. I think this also goes really well with my character Bess because she
always wanted to look the best even next to the queen, she would have kept up
to date with the new fashion and try beat the queen at her own game.
I then carried on the theme
of the orangey colours onto the lips by using the copper colour and gold colour
from the Illamasqua range that I used on the eyes. I used the copper colour all
over then dabbed the gold on the middle part of the lips, which creates a
lovely shine.
I also stuck with the same
idea I experimented with in my other designs and used supra colour in white to
cover the eyelashes and eyebrows.
My main inspiration was from Corrie Nielsen with her collection in London fashion week that I researched before and made a blog post about it. I fell in love with the makeup that was with her collection it looked so beautiful and flawless under the lighting that I wanted to interpret that into my design in a way. Using the red under the lace print was inspired from that collection because it think it really makes the design pop and brights out the vibrant colour scheme.
Over all I'm very happy with my outcome of my final design and I will happily make changes if needed if my partner cant do it in time given and then I can simplify it in some way.
